Jiangxi Provincial Meteorological Bureau was established in 1954, and operates under a dual leadership management system as a working department of the local people's government. Its main functions include guiding, supervising, and managing meteorological activities within the region; formulating local meteorological development plans and programs; promoting the application of meteorological resources; collecting and distributing meteorological detection data; providing decision-making basis for government's defense against meteorological disasters; formulating and managing artificial weather modification operations; and organizing and managing lightning disaster prevention work.
